Hello Last Week in AI readers and listeners!

We’ve just crossed the 10k subscribers threshold, and want to sent a quick thank you note to all of you — this is a passion project for our team (Jackie Liang, Andrey Kurenkov, Daniel Bashir, Trisha Mittal, and Archer Amon), and having people enjoy what we make is what drives us to do it.

A brief bit of history: this newsletter was originally part of Skynet Today, a website with a variety of articles meant to address misunderstandings about AI that we launched all the way back in April 1 of 2018. The very first edition of this newsletter (then titled Skynet This Week) can still be seen through the way back machine:

After a few years journalism about AI got quite a bit better, and there was a lot more of it, so we switched out focus to mainly working on this newsletter and moved to Substack. We’re so glad so many of you find this useful.
