I think glasses like Ray-Ban's are just "toys" unless you enhance the perception to the next level. A good example is here:

A blind man "invented" a camera-speaker system enabling him to "hear" colors. But he took also the next step and translated infra red etc. into sounds so he could basically "see" infra red". Imagine a glasses like Ray Ban could detect infra red, a microphone could detect ultrasound and an AI would translate this in one or another way to the user. So the benefit would come if it supports the user by not "just" describing what I can see anyway...
